Power Hooks

When it comes to handling super heavy weight dumbbells for exercises such as the bench press or overhead press, we could all use a little help in getting the weights in place. Lugging monster weights over to the bench press and hoisting them up can suck your energy for the actual set, robbing you of crucial reps. If you have a training partner, avoid a power drain by having him put the dumbbells in place for you. If you train alone, you could try using power hooks. All you do is strap these hooks to any pair of dumbbells and hang them from the barbell on the bench press or shoulder press station. The hooks also act like a spotter, making it easy to return the weights to the bar when the set is over. Power hooks are particularly good for lifters who have shoulder or back injuries that can be aggravated by hoisting and lowering dumbbells.
